AdsManager - End of life

It is with great regrets that we have chosen to end the developpement of Adsmanager and its other associated components.

AdsManager is born 10 years ago and, as of today, the number of new subscriptions and downloads have fallen and we cannot maintain the component anymore.

All active subscribers will be able to continue enjoying support until the end of their subscription.

The components will be free and no support will be provided anymore for the other users.

We use a search bar on home page so users can enter a word (eg their town or city or a postcode) and it will find all ads containing that word (or so we hoped). However it only seems to find the postcode (zip).

After adsmanager is installed, which settings in admin should we adjust to ensure it searches in this way?

I'm not sure i understand the problem correctly, but if the search textfield doesn't appear, you just need to enable it in the configuration of the module.

I think you want the search textfield to look to other fields than "ad_text and ad_headline" you will have to change the code for that: edit administrator/components/com_adsmanager/contents.php

in the getContents function you have to edit the code (search for ad_text or ad_headline

Will the data returned from a search only bring back exact match results or can this be changed also?

Sorry for the late answer.

In the search module, you can enter a part of a word if you want, the ads containing this word will be returned in the result page.

You can play with the SQL functions if you want to change the behaviour of the search. But right now it's doing a %mysearch%
